companions
Companions in Ministry are women and men who desire to promote the congregation's spirit and mission by ministering with the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia.
- Those who share in our mission
- Those who minister with us
Choosing to be a Companion in Ministry
This relationship involves active participation in the ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis. You might choose to be a Companion in Ministry if:
- You currently minister with a Sister of St. Francis (e.g., in one of the congregationally sponsored institutions). These Companions in Ministry have worked with the Sisters of St. Francis for a minimum of two years and are committed to the Franciscan values and charism of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. These companions deliberately strive to promote the mission of the Sisters of St. Francis in their daily ministry.
- You do not currently work with Sisters of St. Francis but desire to engage in some periodic volunteer work (e.g., a free day, weekend, etc.). These companions are local volunteers who, because they value and wish to support the mission of the congregation, volunteer, as their time allows, at a local site, where the Sisters of St. Francis minister.
- You would like to commit yourself to one or two years of full-time volunteer work with the Sisters of St. Francis in their ministry and through a simple lifestyle. This particular companion relationship is offered to Christian women and men (21 years and older). As this relationship requires extensive preparation and discernment, complete information is available upon request from the Franciscan Companion in Ministry office.
We invite you to prayerfully discern whether you are being drawn to the Franciscan Companion in Mission relationship. Please feel free to contact us.
