Aston, PA-Sister Eugene Mary Delany, OSF, died in Assisi House on December 3. She was 73 years of age and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 51 years. Sister Eugene Mary was born in Philadelphia where she was a member of St. Edmond Parish. Prior to her entrance into the congregation in 1954, she graduated from West Catholic High School and worked for Bell Telephone. Her ministry included elementary education, care of orphans and the elderly, and domestic work. In her leisure time, Sister Eugene Mary enjoyed listening to music, singing in the choir, doing needlework, and reading.

Sister Eugene Mary ministered for 29 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She lived at Lady of Angels Convent in Aston and worked in domestic ministry. In 2001 She moved to Assisi House where she served in prayer ministry until her death.

Sister Eugene Mary’s 20 years of ministry in the Diocese of Trenton included teaching at St. Anthony School and St. Rose of Lima School in Freehold, working with children at St. Michael Orphanage in Hopewell and with the elderly at Morris Hall in Lawrenceville.

Addition ministry experiences included teaching at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, on Wednesday, December 10. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Eugene Mary is survived by two sisters, Bernice Wenke and Jacqueline Goelz; three brothers, John, Robert, Eugene; nieces and nephews, and by her Franciscan family.
