Aston, PA—Sister Francis Lorraine Chrusoskie, OSF, 86, died in Assisi House on January 10. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 65 years. Sister Francis Lorraine (Lorraine Cecilia Chrusoskie) was born in LaGrande, Oregon, where she was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a graduate of LaGrande High School. She entered the congregation in 1942 and professed her first vows in 1945 at Our Lady of Angels Provincial House in Portland, Oregon. Sister Francis Lorraine earned a B.S. in Education from Marylhurst College and ministered primarily in elementary education.

Sister Francis Lorraine ministered for 16 years in the Diocese of San Diego. She taught at St. Thomas School in Arlington (1946-1948)’ Our Lady of Guadalupe School, San Diego (1948-1951); St. Edward School, Corona (1961-1962); and the School of the Madeleine, San Diego (1971-1981).

Sister Francis Lorraine’s 15 years of service in the Archdiocese of Portland included teaching at St. James School, McMinnville (1951-1953, 1984-1986); St. Patrick School, Portland (1953-1954); Blessed Sacrament School, Portland (1954-1961); and St. John Fisher School, Portland (1982-1984).

In the Diocese of Baker, Sister Francis Lorraine taught at Sacred Heart Academy in Klamath Falls (1962-1963) and at St. Joseph School in Pendleton (1963-1971).

Sister Francis Lorraine ministered for 13 years in the Archdiocese of Seattle, volunteering with with retired sisters at St. Ann Convent and driving for the sisters in Evergreen House (1981-1982, 1987-1999).

In 2000 Sister Francis Lorraine moved to Aston, Pennsylvania, and until 2006 did volunteer work at Our Lady of Angels Convent, the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadlephia. In 2006 she moved to Assisi House where she served in prayer ministry until her death.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, on Friday, January 15. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Francis Lorraine is survived by two brothers, Floyd Chrusoskie, Turnwater, Washington, and Everett Chrusoskie, Eagle Point, Oregon; a sister Edith Tucker, LaGrande, Oregon; nieces, nephews; and by her Franciscan family.
