Aston, PA-Sister Kathleen Anne Carroll, OSF, (formerly known as Sister Cyrilla) died in Tacoma Washington on September 21, 2010. She had been a professed Sister of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 63 years. Sister Kathleen was born in County Kildare, Ireland in 1928, and came to the United States in 1946.

As a teacher Sister Kathleen enriched the lives of many students. She taught in California, Oregon and Washington. Sister was on the faculty of St. Leo School in Tacoma, Washington, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Seattle, Washington. She loved learning and was always current in her teaching skills. She received both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in education from the University of Seattle.

Sister’s Irish charm and dignity were always very attractive to those she met. In her later years, she had extensive correspondence with her many friends and students. She loved sharing poetry and drama with others. Sister was devoted to prayer and guided others in their spiritual journey. She was creative in arts and crafts and frequently surprised others with gifts she had made for them.

After many years of teaching, she made Tacoma, Washington her home. First ministering as an activity director at St. Ann Convent, and later becoming a resident at the convent and entering into full-time, prayer ministry. Sister Kathleen is survived by many nieces and nephews who reside in England and Ireland, and by her Franciscan family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Convent on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11 A.M. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S.
