Aston, PA—Sister Marie Margaret McFadden, OSF, 72, died in Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware, on December 29. She was 72 years of age and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 51 years. Sister Marie Margaret (Agnes Cecilia McFadden) was born in Wilmington, Delaware, where she was a member of St. Thomas Parish. Prior to her entrance into the congregation in 1955, she graduated from St. Peter High School in New Castle. Her sister, Sister Ann McFadden, is also a member of the congregation. Sister Marie Margaret earned a B.A. in English from Villanova University and an M.A. in Religious Education from St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia. She ministered in both elementary and secondary education.

Sister Marie Margaret ministered for 38 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. From 1980-2009 she worked at St. Pius X High School in Pottstown, first as an academic assistant and later as part of the student services staff. She also taught at St. Elizabeth School (1958-1968) and All Saints School (1968-1969).

Sister Marie Margaret ministered also ministered in the Diocese of Trenton for 11 years, teaching at McCorristin High School (1971-1982). In the Diocese of Harrisburg she taught at Lancaster Catholic High School (1969-1971).

All services will be held in St. Aloysius Church, 220 N. Hanover Street, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, on Monday, January 4. Viewing will be from 9-11 A.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. In addition to Sister Anne McFadden, Sister Marie Margaret is survived by her sister Mary Leise (Claymont, DE); her brothers/sisters-in-law James and Nancy McFadden (Wilmington), John and Ellie McFadden (Hockessin, DE), Dennis and Lois McFadden (New Smyrna Beach, FL); by her nieces and nephews; and by her Franciscan family.
