As sponsors, we publicly identify with, exert appropriate influence on, and provide various levels of support to these ministries. In so doing, we fulfill our responsibility of stewardship for our heritage, mission, and resources.
During her early years in the congregation, Sr. John Celeste Weitzel ministered in education but later studied to be a physical therapist. When she moved from Baltimore to the Aston area in November 2015, she came with a dream—to work with our sisters at Assisi House who were not getting PT for a specific problem.
About the Foundation cogency
For more than 150 years, the Sisters of St. Francis, trusting in the providence of God, have ministered to the needs of God’s people. In 1994, the Franciscan Ministries Foundation (FMF) was founded. (In 2009 the foundation was renamed the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation.) The ability to live the mission depends on resources generated from external sources. The foundation’s goal is to seek financial support for sisters’ ministries, for retirement, and for other current needs.
As the development vehicle for the Sisters of St. Francis, the foundation does direct mail appeals three times a year (St. Francis Day, Christmas, and Easter). In addition to these appeals, there is an annual sweepstakes fund raiser and an annual golf outing. We also provide memorial cards and memorials (plaques, trees, bricks, and benches) that provide a way of honoring those who are special in your life, assuring a timeless rememberance.
