Aston, PA—Sister Margaret Mary O’Reilly, OSF (formerly Sister Mary Alacoque), 90, died in Assisi House on June 7. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 72 years. Sister Margaret was born in County Leix/Laois, Ireland. At the time of her entrance into the congregation in 1944, she was a member of Exultation of the Holy Cross Parish in Stradbally. She professed her first vows in 1947. Sister Margaret Mary earned a BSN from Marylhurst College in 1960 and an MA in Counseling/Psychology. She ministered primarily in healthcare.

Sister Margaret Mary’s 48 years of ministry in the Archdiocese of Seattle included working at St. Joseph Hospital, Humana Hospital, Hillhaven Nursing Home, Jefferson School, St. Ann Convent, and as a private tutor—all in Tacoma. In 2004 she became a resident of St. Ann Convent in Tacoma where she served in prayer and hospitality ministry.

Sister Margaret Mary also ministered for 13 years in the Diocese of Baker serving at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker, St. Joseph Hospital in LaGrande, and St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton.

Since 2017 Sister Margaret has live in Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston, Pennsylvania. Earlier ministry in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia included working in healthcare at St. Mary Hospital in Philadelphia.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014 on Wednesday, June 12.  A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Margaret Mary is survived by two nephews, and by her Franciscan family.
