Aston, PA—Sister Ann Teresa Mundy, OSF, 99, died in Assisi House on September 5, 2011. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 79 years. Sister Ann Teresa Mundy (baptized Josephine A. Mundy) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was a member of St. Ann Parish in Wilmington. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy High School in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She entered the congregation in 1929 and professed her first vows in 1932. Sister Ann Teresa earned a B.S. in Education from Mt. St. Mary’s College in 1960 and ministered primarily in elementary and secondary education. Sister Ann Teresa Mundy was recently given official recognition by the County of Delaware “in grateful acknowledgement of distinguished service and exemplary citizenship”—Sister Ann Teresa was to turn 100 on December 4.

Sister Ann Teresa Mundy ministered for 30 years in the Diocese of Wilmington. She taught at Immaculate Conception School, Elkton (1932-1933, 1972-1973); Holy Angels School, Newark (1969-1972); and St. Ann School, Newark (1973-1983, 1985-1993). She also ministered for several years in parish ministry at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, New Castle (1993-1998). She spent two years in the diocese 1983-1985 acting as a caregiver.

Sister Ann Teresa ministered in the Archdiocese of Baltimore for 23 years, serving at St. Peter Claver School, Baltimore (1931-1932); St. Clement School, Rosedale (1941-1957); and St. Joseph School, Baltimore (1963-1969).

Sister Ann Teresa Mundy also ministered in the Diocese of Oklahoma for eight years, serving at St. Elizabeth Academy in Purcell (1933-1941).

She served in the Diocese of Trenton for one year at Immaculate Conception School in Trenton (1929-1930). As well as serving for six years in the Diocese of Washington, DC in education ministry at St. Bernadette School in Silver Spring (1957-1963).

Sister Ann Teresa Mundy finished out her ministry in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia where she served in prayer ministry at Assisi House in Aston from 1998 until her death.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, September 8. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Ann Teresa Mundy is survived by her Franciscan family.
