Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade

March has finally sprung though the weather says otherwise. With the month of March come the beauties of spring, preparation for Lent and Easter, and, of course, St. Patrick’s Day! Every year, the city of Philadelphia comes together and hosts its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year the Sisters of St. Francis will unite with Neumann University and its students to celebrate this year’s parade theme. “St. Patrick, Unite Us.” Tune in to the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade or come out to the event and support our group as we spread our shared mission, faith, and call to service.

The Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at 16th and John F. Kennedy Blvd. at 11:15 a.m. on March 10. It’ll continue down the boulevard towards City Hall, which it will walk around to Market St. From there it’ll continue its procession to 5th and Market streets, where the main grandstand and performance area will be. After performing, parade participants will continue on to Front St., which they will take a right on and continue walking down to Penn’s Landing, where the parade will conclude.

The parade will include a variety of groups, including Irish dance schools, marching bands and pipes and drum corps. The parade is a rain or shine event.

Prior to the parade, there will be a special mass held at St. Patrick’s Church at 20th and Locust streets in Philadelphia. The mass will begin at 9:15 a.m., but those looking to attend are encouraged to arrive before 9 a.m. in order to secure seats.

Those who can’t watch the parade in person can catch it on Fox29.
