Pastoral Services Wellness Coordinator & Wellness Manager

Description:

The Wellness Services Coordinator  serves an integral role in fulfilling the goals and initiatives of the Wellness Services Department, with a focus on sisters living independently with services at Our Lady of Angels Convent and surrounding convents.

The Wellness Services Manager leads in facilitating a broad holistic program of services for sisters living independently and in small communities.  The duties of this position are accomplished through direct staff supervision of two coordinators and via collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Two positions available.  Works closely with the congregational leadership and key staff, including the administrator of Assisi House, our retirement residence, to address the health and well-being needs of the sisters via a collaborative approach.

  • Assists the Wellness Services Manager in supporting our sisters’ health and wellness through their life transitions, with the aim of ensuring outstanding care and a smooth transition to higher levels of care as needed.

  • Provides care management services as needed related to our sister’s physical and cognitive health needs.

  • Responds to calls regarding illness/hospitalization of sisters on campus, and ensures that others are kept abreast of status, as needed.

  • Keeps current regarding trends and best practices in health care delivery and public and community programs; ensures that Wellness Services Department staff is kept sufficiently abreast, as well.

  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with leadership of health care facilities where sisters reside (temporary or long term), and with wellness education providers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, ideally in a medical, social work, or wellness field.

  • Three to five years of relevant experience with demonstrated positive impact. Prior experience in geriatrics a plus.

  • Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).

  • Good management skills.

  • Ability to drive and travel locally as needed.

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn healthcare guidelines and mandates.

  • Ability to work collaboratively, with flexibility and an openness to change.

  • Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality

  • Ability to effectively handle crisis situations.  Strong organization and follow-up skills.

Young Adult Engagement Coordinator

Description:

The Young Adult Engagement Coordinator collaborates in developing and implementing ways to invite, accompany, and empower young adults in engaging Franciscan spirituality and values towards personal and social transformation. The coordinator supports mutual, intergenerational relationships among young adults, sisters, and companions as part of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia’s charism ministry team.

  • Full-time position

  • Reflects the mission and values of the Sisters of St Francis of Philadelphia in carrying out job responsibilities and in all interactions with young adults, sisters, companions, coworkers, those with whom we serve, and external publics.

  • Collaborates with the Charism Engagement Minister, the Director of Franciscan Companions in Mission, and others to research, develop, and implement creative young adult engagement initiatives expressing our Franciscan charism, spirituality and values in response to contemporary needs.

  • Coordinates efforts to build relationships with young adults in various ways, including social media, virtual programs, and in-person events and activities.

  • Maintains relationships and regular communications with existing and new young adult participants, maintains accurate contact and expense records.

  • Develops relationships and regular communication with related networks, including an advisory council, support persons, and community partners.

  • Becomes and/or stays informed of current trends related to young adult ministry, faith-based service, integral ecology, and the contemporary Franciscan movement.

  • Collaborates with the Charism Engagement Minister in networking with related organizations such as Franciscan Service Network, Catholic Volunteer Network, Franciscan Federation, and community partners to deepen relationships, exchange ideas, broaden perspectives, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young adults and/or service as a volunteer in a faith-based program (such as Franciscan Volunteers, Franciscan Mission Service, JVC, etc.)

  • Some college credits; Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.

  • Basic understanding of theology and Catholic Social Teaching; experience with and/or interest in Franciscan spirituality and tradition.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including using social media platforms.

  • Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills, including a welcoming and inclusive manner in relating with others; treats all persons with dignity and respect.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team; is able to multi-task and manage multiple projects. Demonstrates sound judgment and decision- making skills.

  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially Word and Power Point, Zoom, and relevant social media platforms.

  • Has leadership potential, including creativity, organizational skills, intercultural competencies and/or critical thinking.

  • Is able to be flexible with work schedule, including working some evenings and weekends during young adult-related events/activities; one day remote work negotiable.

  • Current driver’s license; is willing and able to drive and/or travel to attend work-related meetings and events.

Director, Anna’s Place, Chester

Description:

  • Plans, coordinates and evaluates the activities of Anna’s Place in a manner reflecting the mission, vision and values of The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia with particular attention to serving the guests of Anna’s Place and ensuring a space that is peaceful and hospitable for all guests, volunteers and staff.

  • Direct and oversee the ministry of Anna’s Place including personnel, equipment, and the building

  • Develop and manage the budget with the Sisters of St. Francis finance office; maintain appropriate financial records and perform necessary banking tasks

  • Collaborate with the staff of Anna’s Place to recruit, screen, orient, and assign volunteers

  • Develop and nurture relationships with appropriate personnel within faith communities, educational institutions, social service agencies, and civic officials within the city of Chester and Delaware County

  • Collaborate with other offices and ministries/partnerships of the Sisters of St. Francis: e.g., Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, Drexel Neumann Academy, Chester Community Coalition, and ACCESS

  • Seek funding/develop donor relationships to support Anna’s Place services

  • Develop a resource/referral file of people, agencies, and services that are available for guests of Anna’s Place

  • Maintain communication with the administrator of St. Katherine Drexel Parish and the director of sponsorship.  Prepare and present an Annual Report for the leadership team of the Sisters of St. Francis

Environmental Services Aide/Housekeeping

Description:

  • Full-time, Part-time, and Occasional positions available.

  • Performs the daily cleaning tasks of residents’ rooms and public, clinical, and administrative areas while ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness.

  • Assists with cleaning of residents’ rooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens, furniture and medical equipment.

  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops floors/carpeting, and strips and finishes floors when needed.

  • Handles trash removal and the transport of infectious waste, sharps, and needle boxes as well as soiled linens and laundry.

  • Cleans windows, baseboards, and fixtures; moves equipment or furniture; maintains cleaning equipment; stocks areas and carts with materials and supplies; and cleans out refrigerators.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of professional environmental services experience, with an minimum of six months of experience in floor/carpet care and cleaning.

  • Previous experience with power and manual equipment, ladders, and wet and dry vacuums.

  • Experience in the health care industry or other service-related field requiring a high level of customer contact experience.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs; to tolerate long periods of standing, walling pushing, bending, and reaching; to perform repetitive cleaning teaks throughout the day; and to handle unpleasant odors and work with chemical cleaning products.

  • One full-time day shift position and several part-time positions to work the evening shift (3:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.) 2-3 nights per week, every other weekend, and several holidays.

  • Assists with basic food production, assembly, and set-up.

  • Provides wait services to the residents; clears the tables.

  • Shares in the responsibility of washing cooking equipment, dishes, utensils, and glasses.

  • Organizes supplies and the maintains a well-stocked supply room.
