Because of the weather, the Sisters of St. Francis food drive is closing at noon on March 12, 2022.  Food donations for Anna’s Place can be taken to Our Lady of Angels—609 S. Convent Road, Aston, Pennsylvania—any day the week of March 14-18.

Aston, PA – Fifty-two weeks a year women religious stand with the poor and immigrants, teach children, fight injustice, heal the sick, share spirituality, empower women, defend the planet, promote peace, create community, offer hope …but for one week, March 8-14, the spotlight shines on women religious during Catholic Sisters Week.

As part of the 2022 Catholic Sisters Week invitation to care for the earth and for one another, expressing our congregational commitment to the Laudato Si’ Action Plan, the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia are sponsoring a food drive on Saturday, March 12, from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.

Donations collected will go to support Anna’s Place, which serves those who are food insecure in Chester, Pennsylvania. Walking with our sisters and brothers at the west end of Chester, Anna’s Place staff discovered there was a need for food, toiletries, and household supplies and now, during this pandemic, provide almost two hundred bags of food and supplies every week. Those able to join our effort are encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable food, toiletries, household supplies, monetary donations, or grocery gift cards to the Our Lady of Angels Convent parking lot located at 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, PA 19014.  Members of the Sisters of St. Francis and Neumann University communities will be present to receive your donations. For more information or directions, please contact (610) 558 7726 or communications@osfphila.org.  Monetary donations can be sent to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation with “Food Drive” in the memo line.

The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia is a community of approximately 335 Catholic women religious who choose a Gospel way of life lived in community and uphold a long and honored tradition of loving God and being in relationships through loving service. We choose to live the Gospel in the prophetic spirit of Francis of Assisi and our foundress Mother Francis Bachmann. With Jesus Christ as Brother, we live as sister with one another, with the entire human family, and with all creation. Calling ourselves and one another to continuous conversion of heart, we commit ourselves to a life of contemplation, poverty, and humility. Seeking to participate in the Spirit’s action in the world, we direct our personal and corporate resources to the promotion of justice, peace, and reconciliation.  www.osfphila.org
