Aston, PA—Sister Georgellen Brilmyer, OSF, 95, died in Assisi House on Wednesday, March, 20, 2019. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 69 years. Sister Georgellen was born Lorraine Theresa Brilmyer in Washington, DC, where she was a member of St. Scholastica Parish and a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She entered the congregation in 1948 and professed her first vows in 1950. Sister Georgellen earned a Bachelors in Math from Trinity College in 1945 and a Masters in History from Villanova in 1957. She ministered primarily in education.

Sister Georgellen ministered for 31 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She taught at St. Stanislaus High School in Lansdale as well as at Hallahan High School and St. Maria Goretti High School in Philadelphia. She also taught at Neumann University in Aston. In 2010 she moved to Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston, where she served in prayer and hospitality ministry until her death.

Sister Georgellen’s 20 years of ministry in the Diocese of Orlando included teaching and serving as vice-principal at St. John Vianney School. In later years she helped with administrative work within the parish and served as parish visitor ministering to the sick.

During her 15 years in the Diocese of Wilmington, Sister Georgellen taught at Padua Academy in Wilmington. She also taught briefly at Pensacola Catholic High School in the Diocese of Pensacola as well as at the Catholic High School of Baltimore.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014 on Tuesday, March 26. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Georgellen is survived by her sister, Betty Reimer, nephews, and by her Franciscan family. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S.
