Aston, PA—Sister Grace Pierre Forrester, OSF, 98, died in Assisi House on March 19. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 78 years. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey, where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School. She entered the congregation in 1932 and professed her first vows in 1935. She earned a B.S. in Education in 1950 from Villanova University and an M.A. in English. Sister Grace ministered primarily in education on both elementary and secondary levels.

Sister Grace Pierre ministered for 46 years in the Diocese of Trenton. She taught at St. Anthony School (1938-1939, 1942-1946); St. Michael’s Children’s Home in Hopewell (1947-1956); McCorristin High School (1973-1989); and Immaculate Conception School (1989-2005).

Sister Grace’s 22 years of ministry in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia included teaching at Hallahan High School (1959-1963), St. Pius X High School in Pottstown (1963-1969), and Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield (1969-1973). She moved to Assisi House in Aston in 2005 where she served in prayer ministry until her death.

Sister Grace ministered for four years in the Archdiocese of Boston. She taught at St. Francis Home in Roxbury from 1939-1942. From 1956-1957 she was principal of Holy Trinity School in Boston.

Sister Grace also ministered for four years in the Diocese of Providence, where she taught at St. James School in West Warwick (1935-1938, 1946-1947).

Additional ministry experience included serving at administrator of St. Mary Home in New Bedford, Massachusetts (1957-1959) and teaching at St. Mary School in York, Pennsylvania (1932-1933) and St. Joseph School in Dallastown, Pennsylvania (1934-1935).

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, on Monday, March 25. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Grace Pierre is survived by a sister, Mary Frein, nieces, nephews, and by her Franciscan family. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S.
