Aston, PA—Sister Inez Cecilia Kockler, OSF, 97, died in Assisi House on November 11. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 75 years. Sister Inez Cecilia (Gladys Elizabeth Kockler) was born in Philadelphia where she was a member of St. Columba Parish and a graduate of Hallahan High School. She entered the congregation in 1937 and professed her first vows in 1939. Sister Inez earned a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.A. in English, both from Villanova University. She ministered in education on both elementary and secondary levels.

Sister Inez Cecilia began her years in education in the Diocese of Allentown where she taught for four years: Sacred Heart School (1939-1940), St. John the Baptist School in Stiles (1940-1942), and St. Mary Magdalen School in Lost Creek (1942-1943).

Sister Inez Cecilia ministered in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 71 years. She taught at All Saints School (1943-1949), St. Benedict School (1949-1955), Hallahan High School (1955-1956), St. Hubert High School (1956-1960, 1961-1970), St. Pius X High School in Pottstown (1960-1961), and Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield (1970-1999). In 1999 she moved to Assisi House where she served in prayer ministry until her death.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014 on Tuesday, November 18. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial at will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Inez Cecilia is survived by her brother, Norbert Kockler; nieces, nephews, and by her Franciscan family. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S.
