Aston, PA—Sister Kathleen Veronica Carroll, OSF, (formerly Sister Mary St. Hubert) 93, died in Assisi House on September 23, 2021.  She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 70 years. Sister Kathleen was born in Dublin, Ireland. She entered the congregation in 1948 and professed her first vows in 1951. Sister Kathleen earned a B.A. in Education from Marylhurst College in Portland, Oregon and a M.A. in English from Seattle University. She ministered primarily in elementary education.

Sister Kathleen ministered for 42 years in the Archdiocese of Seattle. She taught at St. Leo School, Tacoma; Our Lady of Lourdes School, Seattle; and St. Charles School, Tacoma. She volunteered at St. Ann Convent in Tacoma and later became a resident of St. Ann’s in 2005 and served in prayer and hospitality ministry there until 2018 when she moved to Assisi House in Aston, Pennsylvania, serving in prayer and hospitality there until her death.

Sister Kathleen’s five years of ministry in the Diocese of Spokane included working at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home and teaching at St. Charles School.

Sister Kathleen also ministered in the Diocese of San Diego where she taught at the School of the Madeline; the Diocese of Oakland where she taught at St. Isidore School in Danville; and the Diocese of Fresno where she taught at St. John School in Wasco.

During her five years of ministry in the Archdiocese of Portland, Sister Kathleen lived at Our Lady of Angels Convent and served as a cook and housekeeper for the archbishop. Additional ministry included teaching at St. Stephen’s Indian Mission in St. Stephen’s, Wyoming.

All services will be held in Assisi House on Wednesday, September 29. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial at will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Kathleen is survived by her many nieces and nephews and by her Franciscan family.
