Aston, PA— Sister Lynn Patrice Lavin, OSF, 76, former Congregational Minister of the Sisters of St. Francis, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Riddle Hospital in Media, Pennsylvania. She was a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 55 years.

Born Rita Kathleen Lavin in Baltimore, Maryland, Sister Lynn Patrice was a member of St. Stephen Parish in Bradshaw and a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1967 and professed her first vows in 1970. She earned a B.A. in English from Neumann University, an M.A. in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. A licensed therapist, she ministered primarily in consulting and counseling. She also served other religious congregations as a facilitator and consultant.

Sister Lynn Patrice began her ministry in education at Holy Spirit School in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and later taught and served as chairperson for three years at Padua Academy in Wilmington, Delaware. She later returned to the Wilmington Diocese as a private practice counselor at the Lumen Counseling and Consulting Center.  For 12 years, she ministered in the Archdiocese of Baltimore as provincial minister and vocation minister for the congregation’s St. Joseph Province. She also served for three years as director of the St. Joseph Family Center in Spokane, Washington.

In the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Sister Lynn Patrice served the congregation as formation director for six years and later as congregational minister for an additional six years. She also ministered as assistant director of the St. Clare Renewal Center in Aston and taught as an adjunct professor at Neumann University. In 2024, Sister Lynn Patrice moved to Assisi House, where she dedicated herself to prayer and hospitality ministry until her death.

All services will be held in Our Lady of Angels Chapel in Aston on Thursday, September 25, 2025, and will be livestreamed. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Internment of Ashes will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston on Friday, September 26, 2025. Sister Lynn is survived by her sister Lynn, her nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan family. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S.
