Aston, PA-Sister Dolores Alfone, OSF, (formerly Sister M. Louise Infant of Prague), died in Assisi House on January 5, 2012. She was 81 years of age and had been professed for 53 years. Sister Dolores Alfone was born in Newark, New Jersey, where she was a member of Good Counsel Parish and a graduate of Collier High School. In 1956 she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Ringwood, a congregation which later merged with the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, and professed her first vows in 1958. Sister Dolores earned a B.S. in Education from Seton Hall University and ministered primarily in elementary education. She also worked in parish ministry and served as a pastoral associate.

Sister Dolores ministered for 42 years in the Diocese of Paterson. She taught at St. Catherine School, Ringwood (1958-1959); Mt. Carmel School, Passaic (1964-1973); St. Francis School, Haskell (1974-1976); and Queen of Peace School, Hewitt (1976-1979). In 1982 she began working in parish ministry at St. Rose of Lima Parish in East Hanover and continued her ministry there until 2006. She later ministered at St. Joseph Residence, Ringwood (2007-2008); St. Gerard Majella Church, Paterson (2008-2010); and also volunteered part-time with the Vocationist Fathers, Florham Park (2007-2010).

Sister Dolores Alfone ministered for five years in the Archdiocese of Newark where she ministered at St. Ann School, Hoboken (1962-1964); Assumption School and Parish, Emerson (1973-1974, 1981-1982); and Holy Rosary Parish, Jersey City (2010-2011).

Sister Dolores also ministered in the Diocese of Brooklyn for two years. She taught at St. Benedict School (1959-1960) and Holy Family School (1961-1962). In the Albany diocese she taught at St. Mary School in Frankfort (1960-1961). She also taught religion classes in the Rockville Centre diocese at St. Rocco Parish, Glen Cove (1979-1981).

She moved to Assisi House in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2011 where she served in prayer ministry until her death.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, PA: A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by the viewing; Mass of Christian burial: 11 A.M.; Burial: Thursday, January 12, 1 P.M., God’s Acre Cemetery, Ringwood, New Jersey; Memorial Mass: Saturday, January 21, St. Rose of Lima Church, East Hanover, NJ. Sister Dolores is survived by her sister, Lucille Alfone, her nephews, nieces, and by her Franciscan family. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014.
