Aston, PA—Sister Theresa Mary Mich, OSF, 90, died in Assisi House on June 8. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 65 years. Sister Theresa Mary (Theresa Catalda Mich) was born in Philadelphia where she was a member of All Saints Parish and a graduate of Little Flower High School. She entered the congregation in 1948 and professed her first vows in 1951. Her sister, Sister Rita Mary Mich (now deceased), also entered the congregation. Sister Theresa Mary earned a B.S. in English from Villanova University and an M.A. in Theology from St. Charles Seminary. She ministered primarily in education on both elementary and secondary levels.

Sister Theresa Mary ministered in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 43 years. She taught at St. Hubert High School and Bishop Conwell High School. When she retired from teaching in 2001, she moved to our Lady of Angels Convent in Aston where she volunteered in various congregational offices. In 2010 she moved to Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston, where she served in prayer ministry.

Sister Theresa Mary’s 11 years of service in the Diocese of Trenton began by working with children at St. Michael Home in Hopewell. She also taught at St. Rose of Lima School in Freehold and St. Leo the Great School in Lincroft.

Sister Theresa Mary also ministered for 10 years in the Diocese of Harrisburg. There she taught at St. Joseph School in Dallastown and St. Joseph School in Lancaster.

All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014 on Tuesday, June 14. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial at will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Theresa Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews, and by her Franciscan family.
