Statement for an End to Gun Violence in the Wake of the El Paso and Dayton Shootings

As a nation we are once again faced with more senseless gun violence and many innocent lives lost! How long can we continue to see our brothers and sisters die at the hands of disturbed individuals using guns? As Sisters of St. Francis having recently taken a corporate stand against gun violence, our hearts are heavy.  Please join us in calling your elected officials to demand a vote to end the sale of assault weapons which are made for use in war.  We are also calling for universal background checks and thorough vetting of those purchasing guns.

We continue to pray for the victims, their families, and all affected by these egregious acts.  We pray for wisdom and guidance for our government officials and for a world where each individual can act as an “Instrument of Peace.”
