Becoming a sister of St. Francis was natural for Sr. Janet Thiel. Throughout her grade school and high school—both in Trenton, New Jersey—her teachers were Franciscans. When Janet realized that she, too, wanted to be a sister, she followed the example of the teachers she had admired and became a Sister of St. Francis of Philadelphia.
The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia have sole responsibility for these ministries. They are not separately incorporated. Ministries may have advisory boards which include Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia as well as lay women and men.
