Aston, PA—Sister Anne Conrad Koerner, OSF, 94, died in Assisi House on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 73 years. Sister Anne Conrad (Carmelia Madeline Koerner) was born in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was a member of St. Elizabeth Parish and a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1946 and professed her first vows in 1949.  She earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from Fordham University. During her early years in the congregation, she ministered in elementary education but after becoming a registered pharmacist, she ministered in healthcare.

Sister Anne Conrad ministered for 17 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  She taught at both All Saints School and St. Alphonsus School.  In 2010 she moved to Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston, where she served in prayer and hospitality ministry until her death.

Sister Anne Conrad’s 19 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore began with teaching at St. Vincent’s School. In later years, she ministered at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson.

Sister Anne Conrad ministered for 17 years in the Diocese of Harrisburg at St. Joseph Hospital in Lancaster. She ministered for 15 years at St. Francis Hospital in the Diocese of Wilmington.  She also ministered for seven years in the Diocese of Trenton at St. Francis Hospital.

All services will be held in Assisi House on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, and will be livestreamed. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Ann Conrad is survived by her nephews, Conrad, Francis, and Ronald; niece, Theresa: and her Franciscan family. Donations in her name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014.
