Aston—The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia will conduct their second annual Franciscan Night on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Our Lady of Angels Convent.  The event will be an evening of fun, food, games of chance, and raffle baskets.  Proceeds from the event will support the sisters’ retirement.

“We were thrilled that our inaugural Franciscan Night last year was so successful,” said Sister Deborah Krist, OSF, director of mission advancement for the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation.  “The event proved to be so much fun and to raise much needed funds for our retired sisters that we are pleased to be able to hold it again this year.”

The second annual Franciscan Night will be held at Our Lady of Angels Convent, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, Pennsylvania 19014.  The event will run from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. and doors will open at 6:30 P.M.  Parking for the event will be across the street.  A handicap entrance will also be available.

“Last year people who had never visited the sisters’ motherhouse had the opportunity to enjoy a short tour. Our resident sisters also enjoyed having a houseful of guests and met so many new people.  It’s no wonder that they are looking forward to this year’s event,” continued Sister Deborah. “Franciscan Night would not be possible if it weren’t for the generosity of our sponsors.”

Among the sponsoring organizations are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zeiler; Mr. and Mrs. John Brennan; Mr. and Mrs. John McManus; Glenmede Trust Company; Fegley and Associates, CPAs; Bryn Mawr Trust; Smith Insurance Associates; Vista Fuels, LLC; and Charles Schwab.

The cost per ticket is $100 which includes food, wine and beer, and $50 in chips. Sumptuous food will be provided by Caffe Gelato of Newark, Delaware.  Our colorful and imaginative raffle baskets include items ranging from personal care and relaxation, to great food and drink, to a dog lovers dream.

Today approximately 425 Sisters of St. Francis serve in 17 states as well as in Ireland and Africa.  Their ministries include education at all levels; healthcare; pastoral care; service to elderly persons, immigrants, and refugees; care of those who are homeless, poor, or living with HIV/AIDS; and prayer and spiritual ministries.

Our active senior sisters enjoy a vibrant lifestyle with a variety of spiritual, social, and cultural activities as well as volunteer and service opportunities. Supporting our retired sisters at both Assisi House and St. Ann Covent supports continuing care for the Sisters of St. Francis.
